[Hacking 101] - Jailbreaking the iPhone to use as a tethered modem

[NOTE]: This was done on an iPhone running 3.1.2(7D11) and a workstation using Windows XP SP2 and the newest release of iTunes. I can't be responsible if you brick your phone. Do this at your own risk!!!

After much contemplation and research, I decided to jailbreak my iPhone with the simple intention of using it as a tether modem for my laptop.
Going forward, there's several considerations you have to take into account

First, MyWi costs $9.99. If you're desperate for a tether, this is probably the best way to go. I paid my $10 after testing it.
